About
Hello, I’m Insun (Sunyo) Choi, an author-illustrator and freelance illustrator based in Seoul, South Korea.
I draw inspiration from my childhood, growing up between the sea and the mountains, which led me to explore nature, the unseen world, and the relationships between all beings.
I create poetic and emotionally rich stories rooted in childhood memories and dreams, and I illustrate imaginative worlds inspired by nature, animals, and children.
With a background in Film & Animation Design and graphic design,
I bring both storytelling and visual design to my work. My illustrations are known for their warm, whimsical atmosphere and vibrant characters.
I am particularly interested in the emotional connections between beings—not only between people, but also among all forms of existence, both living and non-living. These themes are reflected in my debut picture book,
The Treewoman (나무여자), published in Korea in 2026.
I work with young children and am represented by BookEnds Literary Agency.
I am always open to new collaborations and publishing opportunities. If you are interested in my work,
please feel free to get in touch.
